A good long and healthy coffee can be produced through the decoction of the dried chicory root.

Let's see the simple step-by-step procedure to obtain an excellent Chicory Decoction.

Needed to prepare the decoction

As with all other types of decoction and infusion what we need is:

  • a substance from which to extract the drink
    in our case, of course, it is chicory root
  • water
  • a saucepan in which to boil everything
  • a small mesh filter

Preparation of the decoction / infusion

The steps to make it are simple:

  1. Fill the saucepan with water and bring it to a boil
  2. Add the ground chicory root powder.
    You can adjust the doses by eye, depending on how you would like the final drink (more or less charged).
    For a regular long coffee, consider 🥄 2-3 generous spoons of chicory root powder per 1 liter of water. 💧
  3. Let it boil for at least 15 minutes ⏲
  4. Using a tightly meshed strainer infuser, filter the entire contents of the saucepan, pouring the resulting drink into a teapot, carafe or other large container.
